IV Robert Abdesselam Trophy

For the last five years, the Robert Abdesselam Foundation has worked to encourage relations between the three International Clubs that were closest to former IC France President Mr. Abdesselam; France, Belgium and Spain.  This has been done through the organization of a doubles-only senior competition bearing his name and featuring teams from the three nations.

Each team is comprised of two women players (aged 50+ and 55+) and two men players (55+ and 60+), and each tie consists of a men’s doubles, a women’s doubles and two mixed doubles matches .

The Sporting Vichy-Bellerive was chosen by the IC France to host this competition and Jean Pierre Bonhome, a member of the IC of France was in charge of an outstanding organization.

The tournament has traditionally invited a guest IC member to take part, and on this occasion the invitation went to IC Austria.  Among the players taking part, eight players featured within the Top Ten-ranked players in the world in their age category, ensuring that the matches would have had an outstanding level.

The host team of IC France defeated IC Austria in the finals. The guest players were able to enjoy a wonderful social program, attending a welcome reception at the Town City Hall of Vichy, visiting the art nouveau building of the Opera and attending the official dinner at the restaurant by the Lake Aller.

The President of the IC France and the President of the Robert Abdesselam Foundation, Mr. Pierre Hervé Gautier took the opportunity yo pay tribute to the founder of the Foundation, Mr. Robert Abdesselam.

The IC Belgium will the host of the next edition of this competition, due to take place in 2015.
