X Catalan Tennis Championships

A group of children with learning disabilities led by Sergi Bruguera recently took part in the X Catalunya Tenis Tournament at the Sports Club les Pedritxes. 

A total of 79 tennis players from different clubs participated in different matches according to their skill level.  Taking advantage of the World Day for Physical Activity, Special Olympics Catalunya and Acell have joined their efforts with the aim of promoting the benefits of sports for bettering health and self-esteem, social relations, social inclusion and equal opportunities amongst others.

The city of Matadepera took on the challenge of organizing the Catalan Championships of Hockey, Tennis and Petanque at the same time. 500 adapted tennis players of different areas of Spain took part in the various activities. The mayor of Matadepera, Mieya Solsona, stated: “It is an honour for our city to host all of these athletes and we are really proud we have been able to organize such a large event.”
