Columbus Trophy & La Carreta

Belgium, June 2023

During the 26th to 30th of June, the IC Belgium organized two competitions that are held annually during the "IC Week" at the magnificent facilities of the Royal Leopold Club in Brussels: the Columbus Trophy (men's) and La Carreta (women's). These events were developed in the framework of celebrating the 75th anniversary of IC Belgium.

IC Spain wanted to be present at this important event and managed to gather a representation of participants who enjoyed the "IC camaraderie spirit" in a fantastic week of high-level tennis. The representation consisted of Javier Linares, Santiago Tintoré, Carlos Homedes, Javier Molina, Angel Arbelo, and Fernando Gómez de Segura (Columbus Trophy), along with Carmen Chillida and Icíar Eraña (La Carreta).

The participating teams in the men's competition were the United States, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Ireland, Mexico, Canada, and Spain. Our representatives finished in second place, contesting a closely matched final against the United States.

In the women's category, Germany, Canada, the United States, Belgium, South Africa, Luxembourg, Great Britain, and Spain took part. South Africa claimed the trophy in a hard-fought final against Germany.

We take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the hospitality received from IC Belgium and the fantastic organization of both tournaments.
